Motorcycle Fun Run for
Special Olympics May 12, 2008
Marathon is proud to be the starting point for the annual Motorcycle Fun Run, sponsored by the Marathon Police Department to benefit Special Olympics.
The Fun Run will begin in Marathon City with motorcyclists meeting at the Marathon Bowling Center.
The ride will end up back in Marathon City with the remainder of the day's festivities, including a dinner, raffle and silent auction. Cost per motorcycle is $25.00 and an additional $15.00 for passengers, which will include an event t-shirt and admission to the evening events.
Money raised through the Motorcycle Fun Run will support our mission of providing year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with cognitive disabilities.
Last year 50 motorcycles were involved in the event and raised $21,000. This year we are hoping to reach a goal of $25,000. All money that is raised through this event remains within the North Central Wisconsin Area of Special Olympics.
The Marathon Area Business Association invites businesses and residents to
participate in the annual Holly Day festival, held in early December. This
is an opportunity for the business community to put its best foot forward,
offering opportunities to sponsor events and contests, decorate your building
and stay open after hours as a warming station.
Holly Day is open to residents and non-residents alike and focuses on family-oriented entertainment and activities. This includes a fire truck ride by Santa and Mrs. Claus, horse-drawn wagon rides, tree trimming and lighting, coloring contest, fireworks and even a petting zoo with live reindeer.
